Answers are bounded by the material, workpiece, equipment and stated test conditions.

Can a quenchant be selected from maximum cooling rate alone?

No. Material hardenability, transformation ranges, effective section, target microstructure, bath temperature, concentration, relative motion, tank capacity and transfer must be reviewed together.

What data is needed for an initial selection?

Provide material grade or chemistry, drawing and section, mass, target structure and hardness, current furnace and process, tank conditions and the current defect or constraint.

See the real boundary of an industrial quench

The footage shows lifting, transfer, immersion and bath response. It helps frame equipment and process questions, but it does not replace material, concentration, temperature, relative motion or inspection data.

Large-workpiece immersion and bath response

Watch the lifting attitude, transfer route, available tank space and response after immersion. Quenchant selection still depends on material, section and installed capacity.

Production footage records one workpiece, fixture and tank condition. Microstructure, hardness, distortion and cracking must be confirmed with data from the same production context.

Three data types must remain separate

Every curve and conclusion on this site is identified by how the data was obtained.

01 / MEASURED

Standard-probe measured curve

Describes the medium response for the stated probe and test conditions. It is not the surface or core curve of a production workpiece.

02 / PREDICTED

Software-predicted curve

Calculated from a stated model and inputs. It is a prediction, not measured production data.

03 / WORKPIECE

Real-workpiece internal measured curve

Comes from internal points in the actual workpiece and is used to assess the real cooling process against post-quench hardness, microstructure and properties.
